Lavender Glass Cylinder url-fumiko-nagano It’s pottery’s everyman & it’s

It’s pottery’s everyman & it’s a form I continually return to making

Handmade using traditional smithing techniques

Inspired by the landscapes of Korea

bearing the accumulated marks of its making

I believe this is partly the result of my Scandinavian background and my current life in a big city like London

Lavender Glass Cylinder url-fumiko-nagano It’s pottery’s everyman & it’sFor these glass vessels texture becomes the memory of process. They begin as drawings exploring emotion through mark making gesture and form. As the work transitions from drawing to clay moulds and then to glass a corrosion of the original occurs. The viewer is invited to touch to remember. To explore the surface landscape the glass recorded to gaze into and beyond the vessels walls absorb the colours and find the memory.
